Juli Hornbeck

Juli Hornbeck has been practicing yoga for ten years. She is a graduate of Mills College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Art History. It was at Mills College that Juli met Jeannie Dowell, who teaches Hatha Yoga.  Juli studied with her for three years before relocating here to New York. Juli enjoys providing a warm, comfortable environment for her students, and she is sensitive to the individual needs and abilities of each of her students.

Benefits of yoga: There are many benefits of yoga. In ancient cultures exercise was a compliment to medicine, the way toward holistic health holistic health and the strength that comes from physical well-being.  Yoga has been doing just this for many centuries.   In this day and age we have created a fast paced, hectic lifestyle, which we are all trying to keep up with.  Yoga is the answer to the question of how to balance all the craziness in our lives.  Yoga can tranform our lives by reducing the amount of stress we are putting on ourselves.  While it can't take away all of our busy schedules or reponsiblities, it can help us manage them better.  Through yoga we can have a clear picture of our lives and what is truly important to us.  By quieting our minds yoga has the ability to keep the connection between our minds, bodies,and spirits alive.

General Class Information:   Mats are not provided by the center, although they are available for sale.  Please bring a mat to class.   Wear loose comfortable clothing, nothing too tight as this can restrict movement in poses.  Come to class well hydrated. Do not eat any large meals for more than 4 hours before class, and no light meals for more than 2 hours before class.  Women who are menstrating should not do any inverted poses during menses. 

Class Description: Reap the many benefits of beginner yoga in Basic Yoga.  In this class you will increase strength, balance, flexibility, and awareness, while decreasing deeply held tension and stress. This  is an ideal way to get started in a warm, safe, supportive environment. The class will be small in size, which creates an intimate,noncompetitive atmosphere.  This is a nonsectarian yoga class and anyone  interested is welcome.

SAT. 10-11 am          Nov. 27-Jan. 29  (no class 12/25 or 1/01)
